Trying to present old photos and pictures about Wayanad. The pictures are taken from the historical book of CN Gopalan Nair, first publshed on 1911. That was the only kind of book that gives some glimps of old Wayanad rather than Malabar Manuel

Please read the book by FWFF Fletcher sport in Nilgiris and Wayanad about his 16 year stay owning an Estate in Wayanad.Download it.Gold rush of 1900 is mentioned here as well as the big games and his hunting.
ReplyDeleteI am very fond of reading books on hunting wild games and in the Indian Jungle,
ReplyDelete.Read all books of kenneth Anderson from British Council library,Bombay in 1980 and now I purchased from Amazon to reread. Also the entire voulme of Jim Corbett.Finished reading Lonely Tiger by Hugh Allen who settled in Madhyapradesh Hills. Thanks for Kalli Valli I knew more about Wayanad after I read book by Fletcher.I will read book of Bevan.
I have downloaded and read vook of Capt.Bevan.The picture shown of Thirunelli Temple is same as in that book.Recently I read the book of Sanderson who captured elephants in Mysore ,Dacca,Chittagong and Gharo hills. If the residence in jungles like Wayanad is is not on ground level but at a height and not exposing to the early morning mist Malaria or ague will not occur. He has seen jungle tribe living on huts built on poles about 6 feet above ground avoiding the miasma of smells of degenerated leaves of trees etc.
